Having worked with Arnott Conveyors on previous cereal handling projects, when Cereal Innovations won an order from a major dessert company to produce pots of biscuit crumble, Commercial Director Mr. Alan Hayes once again took advantage of Arnott Conveyors expertise to produce conveying equipment to bring together the various individual machines required for the new line.
The system started with a stainless steel "gantry" supporting a traveling hoist which conveys 500kg bags of crumb to the packing area and controls the discharge of the crumb into a receiving hopper.
Product is then conveyed up to high level via an elevating flighted conveyor belt with corrugated side walls. Hinged top covers and a quick release tension device ensure easy access for cleaning the stainless steel conveyor.
The elevating conveyor discharges product into a multi-head weighing machine on demand. The crumb is weighed and metal detected and then filled and sealed into top hat shaped plastic pots.
An Arnott modular conveyor transports the pots through 90° onto a check weigher, from the check weigher; they travel via a second 90° modular conveyor onto a turntable.
Finally tubs are packed into cartons which travel through a tape sealing machine to the palletizing station via a gravity roller conveyor.
Cereal Innovation's Managing Director Mr Mark Bottjer says; "Arnott once again had a clear understanding of our requirements, starting the project with a blank sheet of paper and concluding with a system running successfully and delivered on time, fully vindicating the trust we put in them".
Arnott Conveyors have designed manufactured and installed single conveyors and complete conveyor systems for the food and pharmaceutical industries for over thirty years, operating from modern facilities near Northampton.
