Design and Project Engineer
Arnott Group are a well-established conveyor and associated component business based in Brixworth, Northamptonshire. Working primarily within the food and pharmaceutical sectors we now need an experienced Design and Project Engineer to join our small team and be responsible for designing and project managing of conveyor systems.
Main responsibilities include:
- Create accurate design layouts, detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings using Solidworks 2024.
- Collaborate with engineering team to ensure design feasibility.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail throughout the design and documentation process.
- Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and internally across departments to ensure designs meet required technical specifications cost effectively.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in interpretation of customer requirements.
- Create manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
- Production of sales layouts using 2D CAD (AutoCAD or similar)
- Work with operations team to enable successful on time project completion to customer.
- Attend customer site for site surveys where necessary.
- Assume project management responsibilities, coordinating across departments and external partners.
- Assume responsibility for project coordination and delivery.
- Contribute to engineering sales by providing technical input and engaging with clients to develop tailored solutions.
- Reporting directly to the Design Manager.
Requirements
- Qualification in mechanical engineering or similar. (HND level or higher)
- 3+ years work experience in an engineering environment.
- Proficiency in Solidworks, working with large assemblies, detailed drawings and sheet metal/weldment tools.
- Experience using Solidworks PDM. (desirable not essential)
- Experience using 2D CAD package. (AutoCAD or similar.)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience of production of technical manuals and documentation.
- Experience of manufacturing processes.
- Experience of engineering materials.
- Experience working with sheet metal
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
- Committed, enthusiastic and able to use initiative to drive the business forward.
Job Type
- Full-time, Permanent

- Monday to Thursday – 8:30am-5:00pm
- Friday – 8:30am-4:30pm
